Blue Corn Mush Recipe (Bee Style)

This recipe is a staple for Navajo culture and super easy to make for families or friends to enjoy. This recipe is widely known as a breakfast dish and children love it's sweetness.

Ingredients
  • 5 cups cold water
  • 1 cup roasted blue cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons chia or flax seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (more equals sweeter taste)
  • 1 tablespoon bee pollen (garnish)
Instructions
  1. Combine cold water and blue cornmeal in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil and whisk consistently. Movement is key to avoid clumping.
  3. Once it has started boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer.
  4. Add in chia or flax seeds, with honey. 
    Simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes and whisk away. Whisk to avoid clumping and until mush thickens to the consistency of light batter. 
  5. Remove from heat and serve. Optional: garnish with bee pollen.
  6. Enjoy!
